Bowood Hotel, Spa & Golf Resort

Fantastic hotel with beautiful rooms, excellent food and lovely staff! Booked as final night of our minimoon, had a great welcome (bags taken by porter to room) and then found we had been upgraded to an very large, absolutely beautiful room on the top floor in the corner with views over the golf course and beyond on two sides (The Lansdowne Suite)! We had a huge modern 4 poster bed, sofas, great tea making facilities (plus a mini-fridge with real milk and homemade cookies!), a great TV and WiFi plus a gift of a special box of homemade chocolates for our celebration! The bathroom was equally huge with twin basins, a large shower plus a fantastic double ended freestanding bath! Very nice toiletries too. We visited the spa, swam in the very nice pool, dipped in the jacuzzi and then relaxed for a bit looking out on the grounds. It wasn't too crowded. We had booked for dinner and were shown to our table in the beautifully decorated dining room. The dinner, bed and breakfast menu included three courses and was quite extensive. Everything was absolutely delicious and so well presented and our main server (think the head waiter?) was brilliant in changing a couple of menu items for us! Cornish Orchards cider on draft was a bonus too! After sleeping very well we headed down for breakfast where were were served by the lovely Betti who made us feel very welcome (and made us laugh!) We had fruit, the cold meat platters and then the full English and smoked salmon dishes and everything was excellent! After check-out we did a wonderful walk around the grounds with views of the old house and lake and saw herds of deer and red kites. We had a fantastic stay, everything was perfect and we wished we could have stayed longer!

Stayed here for a birthday weekend, with spa access / treatment, dinner, a night and breakfast the following morning. I felt like every element we enjoyed was at a high standard and of overall good quality, particularly the food - the dinner in particular was outstanding and whilst I wouldn't say cheap, it reflected fair value in my opinion given how good it was. Service from all staff great in every area too, from the welcome we had, to the spa, to the restaurant. Would be happy to stay here again for a special occasion!

Everything about this hotel and the location and views was amazing. However the food is so pricey for tiny portions in the dinner menu. Lounge menu is better and more affordable. The staff were very friendly but service was slow in the restaurant . Breakfast was also very good but buffet very tiny and not a lot of options. The room we had was spacious and warm with amazing park view. Good range of pubs around to eat more affordably.

Wonderful family stay at Bowood Hotel! The staff are incredibly warm and caring, we felt genuinely welcomed by everyone. The rooms were spotless, beds very comfortable, and we loved the in-room coffee machine and fresh cold water. Such thoughtful touches, especially the complimentary cookies that catered to our dietary restrictions. The spa facilities are great, the views and grounds are absolutely beautiful, and the location is peaceful yet only 10 minutes from many attractions. The restaurant food was delicious, with staff going out of their way to accommodate our needs. The only small improvement would be an extra hour of family pool access. This was our second visit, and we’ll definitely be back!

Had wonderful serene and relaxing weekend at Bowood, a perfect setting for me and my sister to have some quality time away from our busy lives. The grounds are just stunning and although it was pouring down while we there, nothing a good umbrella (provided by the hotel) couldn't deal with! The autumnal reds and orange were gorgeous. The hotel itself is clean and well designed, the beds are super soft, nice and dark in the mornings and bathrooms spacious and luxurious. The breakfast was good, and Betti, like many others have said, was just fantastic, warm, friendly and attentive even on a super hectic Sunday. She is honestly incredible. The only reason I gave 4 not 5 stars though is how busy breakfast was, puts your poor staff under so much pressure not giving them enough people on the floor! All the staff were incredible on the whole, welcoming, friendly and kind! As for the spa, just phenomenal, the views from the pool and hot tub were just breathtaking, picturesque green, trees, and if your lucky, deer! Sauna and steam room decent too. Restraunt good but I recommend lansdowne arms pub just a 15m walk away too!

My partner and I went for the Spa & Golf package just for a little break. While she enjoyed the spa experience I went out for a round on their PGA golf course. The course is stunning and well maintained. My partner enjoyed the spa and the massage. Our 3 course meal beckoned so we headed down to enjoy a cocktail in their library. We went for the Chateaubriand (a supplement option) and it didn't disappoint. We thoroughly enjoyed the meal, the food and service was first class and the restaurant itself is a nice place to spend some time. Our luxury room also didn't disappoint, nicely decorated, modern, clean and tastefully appointment. Will definitely be returning in the summer. Couldn't recommend this hotel enough. It really is a classy establishment. Fabulous location. Keep an eye out for the local wildlife!

We recently dined at the restaurant and the food and service was fantastic. We had 3 courses and the flavours and attention to detail was impressive. The staff couldnt do enough for us ans were very attentive asking if we needed more drinks/water etc. Well done Bowood!

Lovely rooms, good size and well furnished. Every member of staff we encountered was friendly and helpful, made a real difference to our stay having such good service. Food and spa facilities also excellent
